New Year, New Books

New Year, New Books

Hi, hello, and welcome to our bookish website. We are so excited to begin this journey with all of you. The bookish sisters started a local book club a few years ago, and we have enjoyed discussing and reviewing books ever since. Now that we have started our own small business of book subscription boxes, we hope to continue our book club discussions through our website. Each month you will find blog posts here for the books included in the boxes, so please feel free to comment and discuss with us. We hope to create a happy, safe, and wholesome bookish community. Since we know many of you may not have received your first berry bookish box quite yet, we would like to invite you to discuss some of your favorite reads of 2023 below.

Sadey's Berry Favorites:

1. Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley (Hardcover, Paperback, Kindle)

This young adult novel reminded me of my love for the Native American culture. It is a beautifully written and empowering story about a young girl who becomes directly involved in a strange mystery affecting the members of her tribe. This is definitely a book that highlights the strength of Native American women and the heartbreak of learning people are not always who they portray themselves to be.

2. The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion (Hardcover, Paperback, Kindle)

This is a comical and unconventional love story that I instantly fell in love with. It is told from the male's point of view, and he happens to have Asperger's Syndrome. His narration of the story is enlightening, educational, and quite hilarious. If you are looking for a light-hearted romance, I highly recommend this one.

3. Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan (Hardcover, Paperback, Kindle)

This was another unconventional, yet heart-wrenching love story with a hint of mystery. The two main characters experienced traumatic childhood events that led them to each other. The story kept me on my toes from the very beginning.

Mandy's Berry Favorites:

1. A Love Letter To Whiskey by Kandi Steiner (Hardcover, Paperback, Kindle)

This is a friends to lovers story that follows two young people whose lives continue to collide starting in high school, then college and beyond. I loved the push and pull of this novel, the slow build of love that begins with friendship and flourishes to something much deeper. It's an emotional roller coaster, but if you hang on you'll find there is happiness on the other side!

2. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover (Hardcover, Paperback, Kindle)                               It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover (Library Binding- Large Print, Paperback, Kindle)

I hadn't read any Colleen Hoover books until this one. Her writing style is not my favorite, I admit, but I fell in love with this story. My favorite parts were reading Lily's letters to Ellen and about her past with Atlas. As an added bonus, there's a movie coming out later this year! Stay tuned because I'm sure we'll meet back here to discuss everything we hated about it later. :)
