His Name is August

His Name is August

For anyone who loved Her Name is Hazel, I encourage you to check out the sequel, His Name is August. I can honestly say I do not know which I love more. The author is masterful at dropping just the right amount of bread crumbs to keep you guessing. I love how easy her writing style is to follow, yet her novels are never dull or too straight forward. She weaves clues throughout the story in a way that keeps you guessing until the perfect moment when she gracefully unravels the answers to all your questions.

As a true romantic at heart, I thoroughly enjoyed following August and Maisy’s journey to love. There were moments that reminded me of my own first love experience. Who else remembers the first time your arm brushed that certain persons and sent shock waves through your body? Or the first kiss that left you breathless and was ten times better than you could’ve ever imagined? Those adolescent moments are fleeting, but they leave such a lasting impression on who we become.

August and Maisy find each other at just that perfect moment in time. As the reader, it’s our privilege to witness those moments when the naive teenager comes to the realization that they have unwillingly matured into the adults they’ll soon be. And of course it wouldn’t be a Sarah Forester Davis novel without the air of mystery and suspense we’ve all come to love and expect. When the pieces fall into place and you begin to realize just why and how August and Maisy are connected, the whole story really does leave you wondering just how she manages to capture all the details.
